Frequently asked questions

iOS is asking “Solva Would Like to Add VPN Configurations”. Is that normal?

Yes, and you need to tap Allow. iOS shows this prompt the first time any VPN app sets up a connection. It is how iOS asks your permission before adding a VPN profile to the system, and no VPN app can work without it.

The configuration is managed by iOS, not by us, and you can remove it at any time (see the last question).

Do I need an account?

No. Solva has no sign-up, no login and no email to hand over. Open the app and tap the ring to connect.

The connection fails or drops. What should I check?
  • Confirm you tapped Allow on the iOS VPN permission prompt. If you tapped Don’t Allow, delete the app and reinstall it.
  • Switch between Wi‑Fi and mobile data — some public, corporate and hotel networks block VPN protocols outright.
  • Open the Security tab and run the connection test. It measures real latency to each location; a location that times out is unreachable from your current network.
  • Try a different location from the Locations tab.
  • Restart the device if iOS still shows a stale VPN state.
How do I connect to my own server?

Go to Locations → Custom servers → Add a server. Enter the server address and either an account and password or a pre-shared key, depending on how your server is set up.

These credentials are saved in the iOS Keychain on your device and are never sent to us. If your server uses a remote identifier different from its address, set it in the optional field; otherwise the address is used.

Does Solva log what I do online?

No. We do not log the sites you visit, your DNS queries or the contents of your traffic. The app contains no analytics, advertising or crash-reporting SDKs at all. Session history and data-usage totals shown in the Insights tab are calculated on your device and stay there.

Full detail is in the privacy policy.

Does it drain the battery?

A VPN encrypts traffic continuously while connected, so it uses somewhat more power than an unprotected connection — this is inherent to VPNs on any platform. Solva does nothing in the background while disconnected. Disconnect when you do not need protection to keep the impact small.

Why is my speed lower when connected?

Your traffic travels to the VPN server before reaching its destination, so a more distant location means higher latency and usually lower throughput. Pick a location near you, or use Pick the optimal server for me on the Connect tab, which chooses based on measured latency rather than a guess.

How do I remove the VPN configuration completely?

Deleting the app removes its data from your device. To remove the VPN profile that iOS holds, go to Settings → General → VPN & Device Management → VPN, tap the ⓘ next to Solva and choose Delete VPN.
